Bull, Ole


(1810-1880), Norwegian composer and violinist, showed early talent, taught by Bergen musicians, went to Paris, won attention at a concert played on Norwegian peasant fiddle, toured widely arousing considerable acclaim: Italy, Britian, northern Europe and US. A charismatic personality of great gifts and wide interests, he is in Norway a national cultural figure. He composed a beloved Norwegian song "Saeterjentens Sontag".
