Blanck, Hubert de


(1856-1932), Dutch/Cuban composer and pianist, born in Ultrecht, Holland, but spent the better part of his life in Cuba, studied music with his father, a violinist, then entered Conservatory Real de Lieja in Liege, Belgium, and Conservatory of Cologne, went to St. Petersbourg, debut as a concert piaist there then toured Europe, moved to New York then Cuba. In Cuba he helped to create a Cuban conservatory of music.
