Bihari, Janos

(1764-1827), Hungarian virtuoso violinist and composer of gypsy descent, known primarily for his superb interpretation of the verbunkos(18th century peasant dance), he performed for all social classes and had a lasting influence within the Hungarian folk tradition, Franz Liszt said of him:"The tones sung by his magic violin flow on our enchanted ears like the tears......".
