Berwald, Franz

(1796-1868), Swedish composer, learned to play violin from his father, joined the court orchestra in 1812, further studied in Berlin, and Stayed in Vienna during 1841, returned to Sweden and later named professor at the Swedish Royal Academy of Music in 1867, composed operas, 4 symphonies, violin concerto, chamber music(string quartets, trios), orchestral fantasia, and piano pieces.
