Berlioz, Hector-1

(1803-1869), French composer, had music lesson from his father and local teacher, entered Paris Conservatory, won the Prix de Rome and stayed in Rome, returned to Paris and became a virtuoso conductor, conducted in Germany, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, London, and Russia. He composed operas(Le Troyens, Benvenuto Cellini, Le Damnation of Faust), Symphonie fantastique, overtures, orchestral works, and choral music.**************
