Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel

(1714-1788), German composer, son of J S Bach, studied music from his father first, then attended Thomasschule and Leipzig University(study law), served as chamber musician at the court of Prince of Prussia, later music directors of five churches and as Kantor at the Johanneum in Hamburg, composed over 900 works, including 20 symphonies, 100 concertos and sonatas, choral music, and various keyboard music.
