Lully, Jean-Baptiste

91632-1687), Italian/French composer, born in Italy, moved to France in 1646, served as Italian conversationist in the household of Mlle. de Montpensier, studied music and became a member of the King's private orchestra, organised second group and made it the best orchestra in France. He composed stage works, incidental music, and dances.
