Liszt, Franz-1

(1811-1886), Hungarian pianist and composer, learned to play piano from his father, played in public at age of 9, went to Vienna and studied with Czerny and Salieri, in Paris met Chopin, Schumann, and Paganini who encouraged him to be a virtuoso, toured Europe, stayed in Rome, Weimar, in 1875 appointed as the director of Budapest Conservatory, in Weimar he conducted Wagner's operas.
