Kodaly, Zoltan


(1882-1967), Hungarian composer, studied at the University of Budapest and Budapest Academy, in 1905 earned doctorate degree in music, made researches in folk music, including about 3,500 melodies, taught at the Budapest Academy and later served as the deputy director of the Academy, his works are abound in colorful folk inspiration and brilliant orchestration, his compositions include 2 operas, tone poems, orcheatral pieces, and chamber music.
