Iliev, Konstantin

(1924-1988), Bulgarian conductor and composer, studied at the Sofia Academy of Music and at Prague. As a composer he was among the first to introduce modernist musical ideas into Eastern Europe, as a conductor he established a orchestra and opera company in Ruse, Bulgaria. he was conductor of the Varna Philharmonic, Sofia Philharmonic, and professor at the Academy of Music.
