Haydn, Franz Josepf

(1732-1809), Austrian composer, joined Vienna Boy's Chior, and studied music at the St. Stephen's Cathedral, served as music director and conductor at Esterhazy, Hungary; visited England, later returned to Vienna for the rest of his life. He composed 104 symphonies, operas, Masses, oratorios, string quartets, keyboard music etc.
