Gluck, Christoph

(1714-1787), German composer, studied music in Prague and served as a organist at the Tyn Church, went to Milan and started composing operas, traveled to London, Dresden, Bohemia, Hamburg, finally settled in Vienna. He composed mainly operas(Orfeo ed Euridice, Iphigenie en Aulide, Armide etc), 18 symphonies, and songs.
