Fonteyn, Dame Margot
(1919-1991), British prima ballerina, considered by many to be the greatest ballerina of her time, her mother signed up for ballet classes for her at early age, then joined the Royal Ballet, and was the company's leading star. She made a dame in 1954. She was chancellor of the Unniversity of Durham from 1981 to 1990, the Margot Fonteyn Academy was founded by her friend in New York.
