Fokine, Mikhail


(1880-1942), Russian choreographer and dancer, trained at St. Petersburg Imperial Ballet School, debut at Imperial Marinsky Theater, taught at ballet school, joined Diaghilev's Ballets Russes in 1909. In 1923 he moved to US and restaged pieces for the ballets Russes de Monte Carlo and American Ballet Theatre. He staged more than 70 ballets in Europe and US.
