(1737-1781), Czech. composer, studied philosophy at the Univ. of Prague, studied composition privately, and played violin in a church orchestra, Prague, then studied in Naples, his operas were successful in Italy, his operas drew great acclaim, and praise of Mozart, he composed operas, oratorios, symphonies, concertos, and chamber music
