Skroup, Frantisek Joseph


(1801-1862), Czech composer/conductor. Studied philosophy and law, then involved in a group activities for opera, his talent for singing and conducting soon made him a leader. His opera "Dratenik" was regarded as the first all Czech operas. He conducted in Prague, and in Rotterdam, composed 5 operas and other music.
