Puccini, Giacomo


(1858-1924), Italian composer, studied at the Instituto musicale Pacini at Lucca. A performance of Aida in 1876 inspired him to become an opera composer, he then entered Milan Conservatory to study with Bazzini and Ponchielli.
He composer 12 operas(Le Villi, Edgar, Manon Lescaut, La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La Fanciulla del West, La Rondine, Il Trittico, Turandot).
